Fall then Fly
“Start by Falling to Finish Flying” is a series of four heavy-bodied acrylic paintings completed in 1994. The artist’s intention is to visually illustrate how the universal human element of flying dreams may be synonymous with accomplishing a personal goal. There are two dreams that are universal to everyone; the uncomfortable falling sensation one gets just after going to sleep, and the realistic dream of flying like a bird. A person under stress may get the falling dream due to some lack of mental stability or stress while the flying dream may be achieved when one’s mind, body, and spirit are communicating well within us. These mind/body/spirit communication skills will let one accomplish personal goals while giving the sense of being in total control at all times – the same sensation experienced in dreams of flying.
